The purpose of the Miss Latina Wine Country Competition is to uplift, motivate, and empower young Latinas in the Wine Country and the North Bay, by giving them the tools for self-esteem, self-care, and hope for a bright future. This annual event which is in its third year features Latina talent between 21 - 29 years of age who compete for various scholarships.
Modeling skills, core strength exercise, and the health benefits of living a natural and balanced lifestyle are just a few of the skills taught as ways to enhance their inner and outer beauty over a very intensive and rigorous month long process. This unique approach to pageantry which is designed to inspire MLWC contestants to discover their inner strength and beauty and is taught by founder and executive director Crystal Rangel and other industry professionals. Contestants are encouraged during this pageant experience to leverage their new skills towards gaining exciting careers and becoming positive role models for other young Latinas.
Successful completion of this program also provides the qualifications required to participate in the preliminaries for Miss Latina California, Miss Latina U.S.A and Miss International SF .

Meet Crystal Rangel
Founder & Director of
Miss Latina Wine country
Crystal Rangel brings an extensive background of experience to MLWC. With over 20 years experience as an instructor and advisory board member for Julie Nation Model and Talent Search Academy . She is a personal development coach with 17 years of radio experience including radio promotions and as an on-air personality.
Crystal has also served as a judge for "El Festival de la Cancion" Latinoamericana de California for over 12 years, judge for La Academia for Azteca America, judge for Quinceañeras Magazine Cover Girl Beauty Pageant, and she has her own events promotion agency Crystal Diamante Enterprise.

MLWC competition, which is more commonly known as a ‘Beauty Contest’, is a competition where contestants are ranked by a group of judges based on things like physical appearance, talent, personality, and physical fitness. Using different phases of competitions the judges select a contestant or contestants to be crowned the winners of the competition. These contest winners are usually called Queens or Titleholders for a year.
Winning a pageant contest a person can earn a number of prizes including scholarships. Prizes for a competition depend on the number and kind of sponsors that donate prizes for the winners. In addition to prizes the winners will be presented a crown and a sash with their title on it such as Miss Latina Wine Country Queen or Princess. With this title, they will spend a year attending events, meeting supporters and volunteering at various charities in the area. The publicity and notoriety that comes with winning a competition is an important element to being a titleholder.
